"Invictus" is a Latin word that translates to "unconquerable" or "undefeated". It's often used to symbolize strength, resilience, and determination in the face of adversity. The term gained prominence through William Ernest Henley's poem of the same name, which explores themes of inner strength and self-mastery

INVICTUS - SENIOR PROJECT

The Project...

Invictus is a BMX Racing team inspired by my story within the sport of BMX Racing. Invictus; meaning unconquerable and unbroken.

A BMX Racing company designed to enhance professionalism within the sport of BMX Racing that showcases visual branding that stands alone as a symbol for courage, strength, and dominance. Invictus.

My idea was to use my talents and racing knowledge to come up with a program that demonstrates that of a high-level sports team. Such as the likes of Red Bull Racing F1 team and or Star Racing Yamaha SMX team. My project consisted of design elements such as a logo, canopy design, frame concept, hauler wrap, gear, number plate, as well as a website and mobile app that took the company into another avenue of promotion.

LOGO DESIGN

The design for the logo incorporates the meaning of Invictus, unconquerable, through the use of eagle wings and bold italic typography. Together the mark symbolizes courage, strength, and dominance. As a graphic designer, I value being creative, approachable, and enjoyable to work with. Through my coaching experience in BMX Racing, I have learned to encourage people and help them enjoy the process of working hard. I believe this is true within graphic design. Developing a creative concept and watching it come to life excites me. My vision is to design for not only others but create designs that can change the way people see and experience the world. My main motivation and belief in my senior project are the realization of my vision to create a high-quality brand for BMX racing unlike anything ever seen before.

APP DESIGN - INSIGHT

Insight BMX - Powered by Invictus Bike Co. Is an app of a beginner guide to BMX Racing. Which involves insights into how to get into the sport in regards to bike setup, training for beginners, tracks near you, pro rider interviews etc... I wanted the app to be fun and enjoyable to use. Something that a 5-year-old could use to the 50-year-old adult. I wanted a functional app that is easy to follow and guide through.My user could really be anyone. From someone who wants to start training but doesn’t know how, to someone who wants to find a track near them within the area, to someone who wants to hear insights into other pro’s point of views.

WEBSITE

The website design is a simple yet affective ordering website where you can order a frame and experience the feeling of being unconquerable. Using the brand visual identity and colours to create a clean and product driven website that is easy to use.

FRAME CONCEPT

Continuing with the visual identity throughout my pieces. The next is the frame, only coming in black and white keeping within my visual range of colour and letting the numerous team pieces speak for themselves. Using a textured 3M vinyl to compose and diecut these frame decals to suit the bike specifically as well as keeping it all geometrical and on brand.

TEAM KIT

Now, here is where we add the style. I chose yellow and purple to compliment the black and the silver to stand out subtly. Not trying to over-power the original logo and name but instead add some "pop" towards the marketing materials within the team.

TRUCK/HAULER WRAP

If you're going to show up to win, you might as well make a bang. This hauler is designed to attract attention and eyes. Similar to the team kits with it's colours and clean curves. This mobile billboard is sure to grab some attention.

NUMBER PLATE

Standing out from the gate drop with a unique number plate design is crucial when wanting to lead the pack. Continuing with the brand identity to incorporate a simple yet bold and powerful front of the bars design.
